We checked ourselves against the supermarket. Here's what we found.
We've always been upfront about one thing: we don't set out to win on price. We set out to win on taste, sourcing from local growers and choosing produce because it eats well, not because it's the lowest number on a shelf.
But value matters too, so we did the honest check. Same basket, our most popular items, same quantities, priced against a major supermarket on the same day.
The numbers came in close. What didn't come in close is what actually gets eaten. A basket that goes soft in the crisper drawer and ends up in the bin isn't the good deal it looked like on the docket, you paid for it either way. Ours gets eaten: the fruit's good enough the kids finish it, the veg lasts the week, the meat's the kind you plan a dinner around.
Cost per docket is one number. Cost per thing actually eaten is the one that matters.
