Hay Melon Update – They’re still rolling in! Next week, there’s a gap in rockmelons, so be sure to check out his other stunners – Yellow Casaba Melon and Piel De Sapo.

A Pear-fect Start – It’s the beginning of the new season for pears, and this ancient variety of Nashi pear is a superb way to kick-start the season… You’ll feel like you’ve just had a drink from a pear-infused waterfall after reaching an oasis in the middle of the Sahara Desert.

Tropic Update – Papayas and passionfruits are back in the swing of things. Bananas are still struggling, and trying to score a box of pineapples is harder than booking a flight to North Korea.

Get Out Your POM-POMS! – Yep, you guessed it! Those new-season pomegranate jewels have graced us with some good volume hitting the market—don’t be scared!

BEST FRUITS

Plums, Peaches, Nectarines, Grapes, Gala Apples, Melons, Nashi Pears, Strawberries, Kiwiberries, and Raspberries.

NEW ARRIVAL – KIWI BERRY: A little burst of delicious kiwi, wrapped up in a tiny berry. Give them a squirt this week for sure!

LOCAL VEG LINES

Charlie Vella: Basil, Oxheart Tomatoes, Baby Cos, Tuscan Kale
Simon: Bok Choy, Shallots, Chinese Broccoli
Danny: Leek Bunches
Grima: Kale, Jap Pumpkin
Wally: Mini Cucumbers
Joe: Broccolini

Watch out! Corn and zucchinis are both on a week’s holiday in the Bahamas.

UNDER THE WEATHER

Baby Spinach – Some wicked warm weather followed by a thunderstorm or two has crippled baby spinach for a week or so. They’re sad, to say the least—it’s a week to give them a miss and go for rocket, mixed salad, and I’ll add in snow pea tendrils to help fill the gap.

Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples are old-season at the moment—best to put them straight in the fridge. If you can convince the apple eaters in your house, my tip would be to pick new-season Gala or Fuji instead.
